Viva Colombia!

Yesterday we went to the Ethnic Enrichment Festival in Kansas City. We had such a blast! There was music, crafts and foods from so many countries. Of course we were drawn to the Colombia crafts and food!

When we entered the festival we saw the Colombian flag waving high in the beautiful blue sky.



We then visited the Colombia mini-booth where they had crafts from Colombia. It was so cool to see some of the crafts that we saw for sale on the streets in Colombia. Elkin picked out a bracelet and some Colombian candy.



We couldn't leave without having some Colombian food! We had some arepas and empanadas. We were so glad to have arepas again, they were such a comfort food for us when we were in Colombia.



We all had such a great time! This festival is still going on today for any of you living in the KC area and if you can't make it this year then don't miss out next year!

Back to School

Yesterday Elkin had his first day of preschool for the year! This year he will be going half days five days a week which will be a big jump up from the two days a week he went last year. He loves school and has been very impatient for school to start back up again.

So how was the first day of school? Well we think it went well. We still have quite a hard time with the language barrier when he tries to tell us about something we weren't there during. He told us "Juice, Milk and Hamburger" and that's about it. The good news is he wants to back today so we will assume everything went well yesterday!
