The Wait
Our dossier was sent down to Colombia last week and we are now on the waiting list. The wait for an infant is currently 30 months - so we are looking at March 2010. Of course this number can change and I'm sure will change. Things are always slowing down and speeding up but of course most the time they are slowing down - that's just how things seem to work in the world of adoption.
We received a packet of travel information from our agency in the mail today. I haven't had a chance to sit down and read it all but it seems to be basic information on everything from Colombian court appearances to what to pack. We will be staying for 3-4 weeks in Colombia. A lot of couples aren't thrilled about the long stay but we are actually very excited about that. We love to travel and we have always wanted to travel to South America. Staying for so long we will really be able to get to know and appreciate our child's home country.

Congratulations on making it to this point! I know its a big milestone and worthy of celebration.

My husband and I are also adopting thru CHI. Our dossier should be ready to send off for translation in about a week. So we are right behind you.
